Basic Needs
When searching for a home you need will meet each of the basic requirements you have set for your home, for example, you may need a two bedroom two bathroom in close vicinity of a good primary school. You should only view properties that mean all of these requirements.
Affordability
This is extremely important, you don't want to be looking at homes out of your reach. Bear in mind that traditional mortgage lending principles allowed borrowing up to three times your gross annual income. This gives you an idea of the price of the homes you should be looking at.
Attainability
Having worked out what you can afford you need to think of any costs for improving the property. you need to find out whether the sort of property you want is available in the area that you want it etc. It's likely that you will have to compromise on some of your likes and dislikes so be prepared to be a bit flexible.
How you feel about the property
After you have thought through the sustainability, affordability and attainability, you can think about how the property feels. Does it feel like a home, can you imagine living there? Do you feel safe and comfortable? Gauging these feeling will let you know if it's the right home for you.
